Choose the right register
The Ministry of Justice operates “Veřejný rejstřík a Sbírka listin”, the public register and collection of documents. Registry courts maintain the entries. The system includes the commercial register and registers for associations, foundations and other legal forms. [3]
Use the existing or.justice.cz service for official enquiries. The replacement at verejnerejstriky.msp.gov.cz is in trial operation and still identifies the existing service as the official data source. The instructions below refer to or.justice.cz. [4] [5]

Names and abbreviations explained
- Obchodní rejstříkCommercial register
- The part of the public register covering companies and other registered businesses. [3] [10]
- IČO / IČIdentifikační číslo
- Entity identification number. The search accepts digits and adds leading zeroes to reach eight digits. [1]
- Sbírka listinCollection of documents
- Original documents filed for the entity. A register extract and annual accounts are different documents. [3]
- Spisová značkaCourt file reference
- Combines the register section (“oddíl”), file number (“vložka”) and court. [1]
- ESMEvidence skutečných majitelů
- The separate beneficial ownership register. Ordinary company search does not grant access to it. [6]
Search step by step
Find the company and select an extract
Start with one clear identifier
Open or.justice.cz and search by IČO or company name. Name searches require at least three characters. “rozšířené vyhledávání” opens the advanced search. [1] [4]
Include earlier names
If necessary, select “Platné i neplatné” to include former names and deleted records. Compare IČO numbers before matching a differently named result. [1]
Choose the current record or its history
“Výpis platných” displays valid entries. “Úplný výpis” adds previous entries, such as old names or registered offices. [1]
Keep the electronic extract
At the bottom of the extract, “Stáhnout PDF verzi výpisu” opens the PDF version. Keep the original file if you need to pass on its electronic authentication. [2]
Find accounts or constitutional documents
Open the filed documents
Select “Sbírka listin” for the company. Look for “účetní závěrka” for financial statements or “výroční zpráva” for the annual report. [1] [3]
Match the reporting period
The table distinguishes document date, reporting year and deposit date. Open the document number (“Číslo listiny”), then its available digitised content. [1]

What the records cover
The commercial register covers companies, cooperatives and registered branches. It does not include every self-employed individual. Read the entity identifiers together with its representation rules when assessing a company. [10]
The collection includes incorporation documents, articles and decisions concerning officeholders. Financial filings may include annual reports, standalone accounts and consolidated accounts. The actual filed document determines the available detail. [3] [10]
Other search options
Advanced search allows additional criteria such as court and legal form. Person searches can identify roles in registered entities. For personal names, the official help requires exact, complete spelling, including case and diacritics. [1]
Overseas access and digital identity
The Ministry of Justice states that anyone can consult the public register without registration. A Czech electronic identity is therefore not required for that public search. [3]
An additional route is Portál občana, the citizen portal. It sends a free PDF extract to a linked personal “Datová schránka”, the state electronic mailbox. This route requires a natural person’s Identita občana login and connected mailbox. Those conditions do not apply to ordinary register searches. [9]
Beneficial ownership access since December 2025
ESM closed to general public access in mid-December 2025. The Ministry of Justice considers that people with demonstrated legitimate interest can request limited information from the competent court. Access depends on the court’s independent decision. [6] [7]
Statutorily eligible organisations can request free remote access, subject to identification and eligibility. A registered entity can obtain its own complete record through its state electronic mailbox. [6]
For beneficial owners seeking their own information, the current help points to the competent court. It states that the planned personal online access using electronic identification is not yet available. [6]
Electronic evidence and paper copies
The downloadable PDF extract carries the registry court’s qualified system certificate. Ordinary printing does not preserve that evidential status. The Justice Ministry identifies authorised conversion at Czech POINT or a directly issued paper extract as routes to an official paper document. [2]
Avoid common mistakes
- Publication does not certify the accuracy of filed accounts. The Justice Ministry states that the registry court is not responsible for the contents of deposited documents or their correspondence with the actual facts. [3]
- Older records that have not been digitised can exist only on paper. The official EU profile specifically mentions records predating 1 January 1997. [10]
Frequently asked questions
Do I need Czech ID to search for a company?
The public register requires no registration. The citizen-portal delivery route and ESM access have separate identity requirements. [3] [9] [6]
What does “Úplný výpis” mean?
It is the full extract, including historical entries. Choose “Výpis platných” for the currently valid record. [1]
How do I obtain an official paper extract?
Czech POINT issues it using the entity’s IČ. Its published maximum charges are CZK 100 for the first page and CZK 50 per further page. [8]
