Bhutan: verify a company and request official records

The CRA portal offers public verification by registration number. For documentary evidence, section 404 of the Companies Act provides inspection and certified copies through the Registrar. The public verification form is separate from the login for company filings.

Choose the right register

The Corporate Regulatory Authority maintains the company register. Sections 394–395 describe filed information and certificates as its contents. The law is still linked in CRA’s current legislation list. A business licence and an incorporated company record should be distinguished when identifying the organisation. [3] [4] [5]

Inspection is not limited to company officers in section 404

Section 404 applies to any person. It permits inspection of documents filed or registered under the Act and requesting a certified incorporation certificate, document copy or extract on payment of prescribed fees. It does not itself specify a remote ordering system, overseas payment method or postal service. [3]

Electronic certificates for the company

During incorporation, the applicant receives the certificate and articles electronically at their registered email address after approval and payment. Contact CRA for documents relating to another company. Company Verification is used to check registration. [5]

Use dated official notices for status events

The three-page notice of 25 June 2025 lists companies struck off as defunct. Its operative text is English with a Dzongkha letterhead. The /2026/04/ upload path does not change the stated event date. Check subsequent notices or request current evidence before treating a past notice as today’s complete status. [6]

Avoid common mistakes

  • Incorporation fees quoted in the registration instructions are not the price of a third-party registry extract. [5] [3]
