Choose the right register
The Finnish Patent and Registration Office, PRH, operates Virre, the official information service for registered businesses, foundations and enterprise mortgages. The Trade Register is called Kaupparekisteri in Finnish and Handelsregistret in Swedish. [1]

Check the basic company details. Select “Electronic extract from the Trade Register” to open the free PDF. Save or print the document. [3]
Choose other documents for the specific question
For financial information, choose the accounts for the required period. For constitutional information, choose the articles or other organisation rules. An English register extract is a separate product. [1] [2]
Pay as a guest and save the files
Pay for charged products by credit card or online banking. Items become accessible after payment and are also sent with the receipt by email. The guest route does not require a contract-client account. [4]

What the extract contains
The original Trade Register extract contains the company’s current register entries. These include the name and Business ID and registered representation details. Virre also provides a separate search for notifications and their processing status. [3] [7]
Research beneficial owners separately
Virre no longer provides beneficial ownership details after the relaunch. Eligible users sign in to the separate Beneficial Owner Information Service using Suomi.fi. It checks the user’s registered role, such as company representative or an eligible professional role. [4] [5]
Eligible users listed by the operator include representatives of their own companies, the beneficial owners themselves, auditors registered in Finland, Finnish Bar Association attorneys and specified authorities. Free access to one’s own extract does not give unrestricted third-party access. Other beneficial-owner document requests must have a purpose consistent with the Finnish Anti-Money Laundering Act. Registered persons responsible for a company, such as board members or the managing director, can download their own company’s extract free of charge. Sign in to the separate Beneficial Owner Information Service using Suomi.fi and select the company for which you are responsible. The extract is available as PDF or CSV in English, Finnish or Swedish. Research into other companies is subject to the service’s separate access rules. [12]
Requirements for overseas users
PRH states that Virre does not require registration or sign-in. Credit card payment provides an alternative to the supported online banks. The separate beneficial-owner service requires Suomi.fi identification and an eligible role. Its access conditions differ from ordinary company research. [4] [5]
Find a person’s corporate positions
Virre supports searches by name and date of birth for registered positions in companies or foundations. This role search costs EUR 3.14 including VAT. It is separate from beneficial ownership research. [1] [2]
Paper extracts and ordering without online payment
The manual/paper tariff differs from instant Virre retrieval: Trade Register extract €15, translated register information €40 and organisation rules €15. Avoid common mistakes
- PRH says that automatically translated extracts omit the line of business. Use the original extract and an additional translation when this information is needed. [6]
- The fee schedule distinguishes companies and foundations. A free Trade Register extract does not make a Foundation Register extract free; the latter costs EUR 5.02. [2]
