Choose the right register
GEMI is the national register for commercial publicity. The competent register office handles filings and document requests. This is usually an office at a local chamber of commerce; a ministerial office handles certain companies. The central technical service operates within the Union of Hellenic Chambers. [4] [1]

Search step by step
Find a company and its publications
Enter a name or identifier
Open the public search. Use a GEMI number, AFM, company name or part of a commercial title. The selector distinguishes company name from commercial title; “All” searches both. [8]
Narrow the results
Filter by legal form, status, responsible chamber or activity. Region, city, postcode and date ranges for establishment, closure and changes are also available. Open the relevant result and compare the identifier and registered office. [8] [3]
Open register notices
Check capital, administration and status history. Open “History of Greek Business Registry announcements”. Entries link to published documents. A document’s date and its registration date may describe different events. [8] [1]
Order a certificate for another company
Choose an external user account
In the services portal choose “Sign up”, then “For companies not liable to the G.C.R.(GEMI)” and direct registration. Individuals use “Natural Person”. This route is intended for interested users who have no GEMI company of their own. [5] [8]
Choose the company and document
After signing in, select “Certificates/Copies”, “New request”, then another company. Request the General Certificate for register history or the Certificate of Representation for current representation. [6] [2]
Pay and retrieve the document
The system calculates €5 for each certificate or copy. The regulation sets a maximum processing period of ten days, subject to specific legal provisions. An unpaid request is automatically cancelled after ten days. Follow progress in your account. Once the document is ready, the service portal notifies you and makes it available there. [2]
Check authenticity
Use the official document check with the protocol number, GEMI number and issuing register office. An electronic seal or digital signature authenticates the document. Under the regulation, a printed version of a properly signed or sealed electronic document counts as an official copy. [7] [2]
Documents and fees
| Document / information | Contents and purpose | Fee | How to get it |
|---|---|---|---|
| General Certificate / Γενικό Πιστοποιητικό [2] [8] | Current company particulars, legal-form and status history, and a table of all GEMI entries since registration. | €5 | Order electronically after logging in. |
| Certificate of Representation / Πιστοποιητικό Εκπροσώπησης [2] [8] | Current management and representatives, role, joint or individual powers, and term of office. | €5 | Order in the certificates section. |

For AE general meeting minutes and certificates of shareholding structure, the portal directs users to the competent GEMI office. |
| Public notices and attached documents [1] [8] | Published incorporation, amendment and, where applicable, accounting documents. | €0 | Open the company’s publication history. |
Entities covered
Coverage includes capital companies, general and limited partnerships, commercial sole traders, specified cooperatives and Greek establishments of overseas companies subject to registration. Article 16 excludes certain maritime company forms and professional firms of lawyers, notaries and judicial officers. [1]
Access from abroad
Public search and company details are available without sign-in. To register as an external individual user, select your country, including Germany. Required fields cover your name, email, username, password and telephone. ID/passport and tax-number fields are also available. [8]
The TAXIS route for companies already subject to registration is a different route. Use external registration to research other businesses. [5] [8]
Annual accounts and filings
Publicly posted filings and notices can be downloaded free of charge. Look for accounts in the company’s publication history and check the financial year of each document. Disclosure depends on the entity’s legal form and filing obligations. An empty section establishes neither zero turnover nor the absence of a company. [1] [8]
Beneficial owners are a separate enquiry
The Central Register of Beneficial Owners is a separate service. Article 202 of Law 5259/2025 requires a specific legitimate interest in preventing money laundering or terrorist financing and a prosecutorial order for the external access it describes. Relevant fields include name, month and year of birth, country of residence, nationality, and the nature and extent of the interest held. [9]
A GEMI representation certificate does not replace this process. Its management and representation details should not be treated as a complete list of beneficial owners. [2] [9]
Charges and delivery
The €5 tariff applies to each requested certificate or copy. The annual free document under Article 15(3) is an entitlement for entities subject to registration, not a general allowance for external researchers. Publicly available filings remain free. [2] [1]
Paying from abroad
GEMI offers card payment and bank payment using a DIAS payment code. The Ministry of Development also lists SEPA for foreign companies. Use the payment details from your specific request so that the payment can be matched to the document you ordered. [10]
For the General Certificate covering company changes, the government EUGO portal lists the €5 fee under e-Paravolo code 5633. e-Paravolo is Greece’s electronic administrative-fee system. If you use this payment route, foreign-issued Visa and Mastercard cards are accepted. You can also make a SEPA transfer from a foreign bank. Enter only the 25-digit RF payment code in the payment reference. The fee becomes available once the transfer is complete. [11] [12]

Avoid common mistakes
- New certificate names apply from 1 September 2025. Older English help pages still list abolished representation and changes certificates. Use the current document menu and Article 14 of the regulation. [2] [8]
- Compare the status in search results with the detailed company view. If they differ, use the status history and registry notices to trace the sequence of changes. [8]
- GEMI is not obliged to supply copies of records submitted on paper before 31 December 2006. [2]
