Choose the right register
This guide covers IRI’s international Corporate Registry service. Its general information particularly concerns non-resident domestic entities: entities formed under Marshall Islands law without residence there. Search also offers a Foreign Maritime entity type. [1] [3]
Names and abbreviations explained

Search step by step
Identify the entity and obtain the right evidence
Search by name or number
Open “Corporate Entity Search”. Name searches require at least four characters and the appropriate “Entity Type”. Choose “Begins With” or “Contains”. Alternatively enter the complete “Entity Number”. [3]
Match the result and status
Results include dissolved, annulled, transferred and converted entities. Open the matching number and compare name, type, status and “Existence Date”. The detail page states the search timestamp. [3]
Save the basic report
Select “Report” in the profile. Official search instructions describe a PDF report that can be saved and printed. The detail page explicitly states that it is not a statement of good standing. [3]
Request an official certificate
For a Certificate of Good Standing or certified copies of filed documents, contact the relevant IRI office or corp@register-iri.com. Specify entity number, name, product and electronic or paper format. Confirm price, required authority, language and delivery before ordering. [4] [6]
Verify the issued document
Use “Corporate Document Verification” for electronic documents carrying a QR code or UTN. Check the identifier with the registry itself. [8] [3]

What the free query contains
The public profile provides registration details such as number, name, legal form and status. It also lists the existence date and the registered agent’s name and address. The FAQ describes additional searches of public filings. Use the separate registry service for those records. [3] [2]
Officeholders, shareholders and filed records
IRI’s FAQ states that corporate officers, directors and shareholders are not required to be named in a public registry. Basic online search therefore does not provide a complete ownership investigation. The service list distinguishes issued certificates, filed documents and separately recorded documents such as certificates of incumbency, powers of attorney and financial records. For records that depend on a filing, ask whether the company has filed the document you need. [2] [4]
Electronic certificate with apostille
IRI introduced an electronic good-standing certificate in 2025. The announcement describes a QR code, tracking number and apostille. The May 2026 announcement confirms the continuing electronic version. Ask about the file format and issue language when ordering. [5] [6]
Paper certificate since May 2026
Since 4 May 2026 the paper version uses standard bond paper instead of the former custom cream paper. The official memo specifies A4 or US Letter, a single border, grey seal watermark, stamp, signature and UTN. The Registrar also describes the electronically generated version with UTN as an alternative to the existing QR-code version. [7]
Access from abroad and ordering
Public search requires neither an account nor identification. IRI provides client support through offices worldwide. A qualified intermediary is required for incorporation; that requirement does not apply to free public search. [3] [1] [5]

Frequently asked questions
Is there a free PDF extract?
Public search instructions describe a downloadable PDF under “Report”. The report is not an official good-standing certificate. [3]
Must a new paper certificate be cream-coloured?
No. The official memo changes the paper certificate to standard bond paper and a new design with a tracking number from 4 May 2026. [7]
