Choose the right register
Findbiz is the public registration-information service of the Administration of Commerce in Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs. The underlying files are held by the central authority, a city government or a responsible special-zone authority, depending on the company. [1] [5] [9]
Distinguish public displayed information, copies of individual filed documents and an official certificate. A fee appearing in a tariff does not give every requester access to the complete company file. [2] [3] [4]
Search by Unified Business Number, legal company name or address.
Official allocation of file inspection and copy requests by company type and location.
Official instructions linking to the form and required translation data.
Search by company code or name for financial reports and securities disclosures.
English access to company profiles and available disclosures.

Search step by step
Find public company information
Open Findbiz
Open Findbiz and select “English” if needed. The default field accepts a Chinese company name, Unified Business Number or factory registration number. For a foreign-language name in the articles, select “Foreign Company Name as specified in the Charter”. [1] [5] [16]
Choose the search type and category
Select the relevant category: company, branch office, business, factory or limited partnership. “Registration Status” limits results to approved registrations, other statuses or all entries. “Other Search Filters” adds city and business activities. [16]
Match the registered entity
Compare the name, office, business purposes and capital. Public information can also include registered representatives, directors and supervisors. Directors are company officers; “監察人” identifies a statutory supervisory office. [2]
Open the public company profile
Open “details” for the matching result. “Company Profile” displays the public registration fields. Tabs lead to officers, branches and history. An English interface does not translate every name or free-text entry. [16]
Find the registry for document requests
Use the official responsibility list. The central Administration of Commerce handles foreign companies and specified large domestic companies. For others, location and special-zone status are key factors. [9]
Request document copies or inspect a file
Specify the documents
An ordinary third party may request copies of the latest public basic details and current articles of incorporation. Under the Company Act, direct online publication of the articles requires company consent. Articles missing online are not necessarily unavailable by request. [2] [7]
Show your interest for wider file access
For broader inspection, provide identity documents and evidence of a relevant interest, such as a contract, court notice or judgment. The registry may require a Chinese translation of foreign-language evidence. An agent generally needs written authorisation. [4]
Choose the request method and fee
A document copy costs TWD 10. Postal service for a copy request adds TWD 50. Inspection costs TWD 400 per company for up to two hours, then TWD 100 for each additional hour or part. The procedural directions allow applications at the counter, by post, fax or electronic transmission. [3] [4]
Obtain an English certificate
Identify the matters to be certified
The certificate can confirm the company name, capital, representative, address, incorporation registration, business purposes and Unified Business Number. Explicitly request business purposes if you need them certified. [8]
Prepare the form and translation data
Download the English-certificate form through the official instructions. Supply the required translation data electronically as well. Business descriptions not covered by official activity codes require individual translations. In New Taipei, the application is made in the company’s name using its registered seals. [6] [8] [10]
Submit to the registry
Post the application, supporting materials and fee to the responsible authority or submit them in person. The first English certificate costs TWD 600; additional identical copies in the same application cost TWD 100 each. [3] [6]

Registry responsibility and public fields
The Company Act distinguishes, among other forms, Limited Companies and Companies Limited by Shares. A branch is controlled by its head office. Public information and formally issued certificates relate to the particular registered entity. [2]
Public information includes the company name, business purposes, office, capital and specified officer and ownership details. These include registered directors’ and supervisors’ names and their disclosed holdings. This is not a complete list of all shareholders. [2]
Other search types include address, company representative and director, supervisor or managerial officer. The former-name or former-number search covers old data from 2011 onwards according to the portal. The default company category does not automatically include the other categories. [16]
Access from abroad and own-company records
The statutory right to inspect published registration information is available to any person. Wider file access depends on entitlement. A foreign contract can support a relevant interest, but the authority may require a Chinese translation. Arrange submission and payment with the registry responsible for the company. [2] [4]
A page requiring an electronic business certificate is the separate own-company service. That page directs users to Findbiz for public information. You therefore do not need to obtain a target company’s business certificate to research its public basic details. [5]
Financial statements and securities disclosures
Use MOPS for reporting public companies. Its scope includes Taiwan Stock Exchange and Taipei Exchange companies and other public issuers. It provides financial reports, material announcements and company profiles. A private company’s registration alone does not put its complete financial information in MOPS. [12] [14]
Search MOPS by company code or name. Open the financial-report or electronic-document section and select the relevant reporting period. The English MOPS site provides an additional entry point for international users. [13] [14]
Shareholdings and beneficial ownership
Visible directors’ and supervisors’ holdings are distinct from a complete beneficial-ownership assessment. Tracing an ownership chain can require additional ownership documents for the companies involved. [2]
The separate Article 22-1 reporting scheme covers, for applicable companies, officers, supervisors and shareholders holding more than 10% of shares or capital. These data are generally confidential. Access is available to specified authorities and authorised anti-money-laundering entities under statutory conditions. It is not a general public shareholder search. [11]
Open data for larger research projects
The Administration of Commerce also provides open datasets. The linked example contains monthly registration data for the listed other-service activities and is expressly offered as a free CSV. It contains no filed-document images and covers only its specified activity codes. Check the scope and update schedule of each other dataset separately. [15]
Avoid common mistakes
- Articles absent from the public website may still be available by copy request. Online publication with company consent and statutory access to a copy are separate routes. [2] [7]
- A low copying fee does not remove restrictions on the file. Supply evidence of your relevant interest for non-public materials. [3] [4]
- Do not apply these company-document fees to every business or special register. This tariff is the Company Registration Fee Regulations. [3]
- The “approved” status indicates an approved registration. Findbiz directs users separately to the Ministry of Finance eTax portal for the latest tax or business-operation status. [16]
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a Taiwanese business certificate for public company details?
The certificate-based service concerns your own company and explicitly links to Findbiz for public information. Any person may access the public data listed in Article 393. [2] [5]
Is the English certificate a translation of the whole file?
No. It certifies specified basic details. Request business purposes expressly and provide translations for non-coded activity descriptions. [8]
