Choose the right register
The Registrar holds company information including registered office, formation documents and recorded charges. Government guidance was updated on 4 September 2026. Filings and certificate requests use the same online register. [1]
Names and abbreviations explained
- Registrar of CompaniesCompany registry authority
- Authority responsible for company records and the described online information services. [1]
- Memorandum of AssociationCompany formation document
- Contains the company’s basic constitutional particulars. It is distinct from internal bye-laws, which are not filed as part of the memorandum. [1]
- Certificate of ComplianceOfficial certificate concerning compliance with the Companies Act
- A separate paid certificate. The fee for the official search supporting it is not the general registry inspection fee. [3]
Search step by step
Prepare research from overseas
Apply for a user account
Open the official portal and choose Register. The form asks for personal details, email and proof of identity. It requires valid government-issued photo identification showing legal name and date of birth; expired documents are not accepted. [2]
Enter an overseas address
The account form accepts Germany and other foreign countries as the address country. Set up multi-factor authentication, an additional login check, during registration. [2]
Select the company in search
Portal help gives Services → Search → Search Entities as the search route. Match name, number and registered office. Managing an entity requires separate authority; do not seek management authority merely to research a company. [2] [1]
Select inspection or a certificate
Review available filings and choose the relevant product. Before paying, confirm whether delivery is a digital file, an ordinary paper copy or a sealed copy. Public guidance confirms online ordering. The file format is not specified. [1] [3]
Documents and fees
| Document / information | Contents and purpose | Fee | How to get it |

| Ordinary document copy [3] [1] | Copy of a specific registry document. | BMD 3 per page | Request through the online register; check availability for the selected entity. |
| Certified and sealed copy [3] [1] | Certification of a document copy or document set. | 100 BMD | Request through the online register; check availability for the selected entity. |

Information available for research
Government guidance lists name and registration number, incorporation or continuance certificate, memorandum, registered office and incorporation date. It also identifies former names, mortgage charges, the filed register of directors and certain business licences. Check the name history when researching a former company name. [1]
Fees depend on the service
Head 16 of the consolidated fee regulations specifies BMD 13 for public inspection of a document, register or index. Preparing a copy costs BMD 3 per page. The official search for a compliance certificate costs BMD 100; certifying and sealing a copy or document set also costs BMD 100. Inspection concerning dissolved or struck-off companies costs BMD 30. These are separate fee items, not unlimited access to all files. [3]
Beneficial ownership is not an unrestricted search
Current government guidance states that the central beneficial ownership register is not public. Access is limited to specified competent authorities and relevant persons conducting customer due diligence under anti-money-laundering rules. An ordinary research account does not provide that access. [1]
Ask about activation or delivery
The Registrar lists helpcenter@rocbda.com and +14412977574. Its office is at 30 Parliament Street, Hamilton HM 12. Include the registration number, specific document and destination country in a document enquiry. Ask explicitly about PDF availability, language and any courier cost. [1]
Avoid common mistakes
- Company particulars, tax information and beneficial ownership information have different access rules. Government guidance expressly excludes certain filed tax information from public access. [1]
