Choose the right register

BCCAR is the Belize Companies & Corporate Affairs Registry. OBRS means Online Business Registry System. Public search distinguishes Company, Business Name, Foundation, LLC and LLP. General search must therefore be distinguished from a company extract and from a collateral registry extract. [1] [2]

Names and abbreviations explained

OBRSOnline Business Registry System: The registry’s online portal. Public search and signed-in services are separate access routes. [1] [2]
Short ExtractOfficial short extract: The statutory template covers identity, status, address, activity and capital information. It does not contain a complete shareholder or ownership list. [3]
Registered AgentLicensed registry agent: Such an agent handles certain registry procedures. The authority directs foreign founders and users without a suitable Social Security ID to licensed agents for formation and administration. An agent is not needed for the public result list. [2] [1]

From search to the right extract

Open public search
Open Search for a Business Entity. Search by Business Entity Name or Registration No. You can also select an entity type or enter a Certificate No. [1]
Record the registration number and status
The list shows registration date, name, foreign-character name where present, type, category and status. Pay attention to Active, Pending Strike off, Struck off or Dissolved. Active status is not a credit assessment. [1]
Choose the information service and access route
The FAQ directs Short Extract and Good Standing requests to Information Services through an individual OBRS account. If you depend on passport-based registration, note the temporary suspension. Ask BCCAR at inquiries@bccar.bz for the permitted route for your specific document. [2] [4]
Check fee and entitlement before ordering
The fee schedule distinguishes verified self-registration in Belize dollars from procedures through registered agents in US dollars. Full Extract access is not open to every third party. Ask an agent to itemise its own charge separately from the official fee. [3]

Specific fees for company documents

Schedule III lists Short Extract at BZD 100 for verified self-registration or USD 50 through a registered agent. Full Extract and Custom Extract each cost BZD 150 or USD 75. Good Standing and Certified Copies are each listed at BZD 30 or USD 15. Apostille is BZD 50 or USD 25. These are official items in the 2022 regulations still linked by BCCAR; they do not constitute an all-inclusive agent and shipping quote. [3] [5]

What the short extract contains and omits

Schedule VII provides the official blank template: registration number, generation time, entity name, status, registration and change dates, principal address, contacts, foreign registration where applicable, activity, capital and dissolution information. Regulation 57 limits third parties without the relevant entitlement to the Short Extract. [3]

Current restriction on new passport-based accounts

The 17 August 2026 notice confirms restoration of OBRS on 10 August. It also temporarily disables passport-based registration for limited public accounts and introduces a temporary limit of 100 document views or downloads per user per hour. [4] [1]

Request older certificates directly from BCCAR

The public search warns that Certificate No. search only works for certificates issued through OBRS. It directs enquiries about certificates issued before 28 November 2022 to the registry office. The FAQ also recommends both the old and new systems for name checks. [1] [2]

Distinguish digital access from paper issuance

OBRS lets you view and download documents. Schedule III lists a separate fee of BZD 30 or USD 15 for “Printing of a certificate”. If you need a paper document, contact BCCAR or your appointed agent. [4] [3]

Avoid common mistakes

The FAQ also lists BZD 15 for a Short Extract from the Secured Transaction and Collateral Registry. That fee concerns security interests in movable property and is not the price of a company extract. [2] [3]
