Choose the right register
The Registro Mercantil comprises a central registry in Havana and territorial registries. The ministry lists commercial companies, foreign branches, MIPYMES and cooperatives among its subjects. A publication limited to MIPYMES and CNA therefore does not cover every registered entity. [1] [2]
Names and abbreviations explained
- MIPYMESMicro, pequeñas y medianas empresas
- Micro, small and medium-sized enterprises. Check the individual entry’s legal form and registry details. [1]
- CNACooperativas no agropecuarias
- Non-agricultural cooperatives. [1]
- Certificación / nota simpleRegistry certificate / simple information note
- The certificate provides authoritative evidence of the register’s contents. A nota simple supplies information about deposited documents. [4]
Search step by step
From the company list to an individual record
Select the relevant publication
Open the ministry’s Prontuario and select a Relación MIPYMES y CNA. Search the downloaded PDF for the full name and spelling variants. Check the date of the individual provincial list. [2] [3]
Record the registry reference
Record the name, province, Tomo, Folio, Hoja and entry date where available. Tomo identifies the volume, Folio the folio or page reference, and Hoja the registry sheet. Compare address and activity. [3]
Contact the competent Registro Mercantil
Select the province’s commercial registry in the official office directory. The linked directory dates from 2022, so confirm contact details before travelling. Identify the company and request a certificación or nota simple specifically. Establish the required entitlement, representation and delivery arrangements. [6] [4]

What the PDF lists contain
The publication labelled February 2026 includes company names, registry references, activities, registered addresses and representatives. Individual provincial lists have their own cut-off dates. A match helps identify the entity. [3]
Access and requests from abroad
In its 2022 response to UNODC, Cuba stated that duly entitled persons could obtain information and access then took place in person. The competent office must confirm the identity or representation evidence required for a current overseas request. A current online ordering route for individual certificates is not documented. [4]
Document tax is not the total price
The consolidated tax legislation published on 12 January 2026 lists 30 CUP for group 1 and 750 CUP for group 2 for requesting and issuing a registry certificate. The same amounts apply to other registry certificates and documents. Group 2 includes individuals not permanently resident in Cuba and certain representations of foreign legal persons. These amounts are document tax. Obtain separate prices for additional registry services, representation, translation and delivery. [5]

Frequently asked questions
Can I start online?
Yes. You can search names within the official PDF lists. For current evidence about an individual company, then contact the competent registry. [3] [4]
Is 750 CUP the complete price for an overseas request?
No. It is the document tax listed for group 2 in that tax text. The applicant’s classification and any additional costs must be established separately. [5]
