MCA is the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. MCA21 is its central online portal. The official DPIIT overview describes nationwide coverage of entities registered under the Companies Act. Distinguish a basic company record from its filed documents and from a certified copy. [1] [5]

Search step by step
Identify the company and choose its filings
Start with master data
Sign in to Master Data Services. Have the company name and preferably its CIN ready. Master data includes the company name, number, registered office, incorporation year and signatories. [2] [1]
Use the appropriate account category
MCA guidance separates Registered User for basic services from Business User for further corporate functions. It places master data and VPD among basic services. This guidance dates from August 2022, so check the identity and contact details currently required at registration. [4] [3]

Save paid documents promptly
An MCA record dated 30 October 2025 and publicly filed with UP-RERA shows the My Workspace download area. Its displayed notice allows seven days after payment and up to three hours from the first download initiated for the company. Check the conditions displayed for your current order before starting downloads. [6]

Master data and filed documents
DPIIT assigns company name, CIN, registered office, incorporation year and directors or other key signatories to master data. For shareholders, annual accounts and activity information it points to paid document inspection. Assess each filing against its own reporting or effective date. [1]
Check beneficial ownership through the relevant filings
The official overview identifies BEN-2 filings for significant beneficial owners under Section 90. It distinguishes certain regulatory-access information from paid public inspection through VPD. Inspect the available BEN-2 filings alongside shareholder documents. [1]
Downloads have a limited access period
The VPD page reproduced in a public regulatory filing also states a maximum of five documents per company or LLP per download operation. It records a use from 2025, rather than confirming unchanged conditions for a payment today. Use it to prepare and check the time limits actually displayed for your order. [6]
Access for researchers outside India
MCA guidance makes Registered User a separate category for basic services, rather than generally requiring a director or professional account. Also check whether your payment method is accepted before placing a paid order. [4] [3]
Order certified copies separately
Paid inspection and certified copies are different services. MCA’s April 2014 newsletter describes online payment followed by postal dispatch within 15 days. This is historical procedure guidance. Confirm the current order route, additional duties and acceptance of an overseas address. [7]
