Choose the right register
The Corporations Registry covers domestic for-profit and nonprofit corporations and foreign corporations operating in Palau. The Secured Transactions Registry is a separate registry for security interests and, according to the guide, requires a separate account. Partnerships have their own forms and procedures. [1] [2]
Names and abbreviations explained
- FICFinancial Institutions Commission
- The authority serves as Registrar of Corporations and administers the secured transactions register. [1] [4]
- Good StandingCurrent registry compliance status
- The guide identifies registration, current annual filings and no filed dissolution notice as general conditions. It is not a credit report. [2]
Search step by step
From search to the right extract
Search for the existing corporation
Open “Corporations Search”, enter a name or registration number and select “Search”. Use “Advanced” to refine the search. “Name Availability Search” concerns proposed names instead. [5] [2]
Identify the entity and record status
Compare registration number, type, status and incorporation date. The profile explains that records before re-registration may contain only limited old data. Inspect tabs for names, officeholders, shareholders and filings. [6] [2]
Prepare an account for ordered products
The ordering guide uses a Corporations client account. The application requires the account administrator to upload government-issued photo ID; the Registrar approves the account. Authority to file on behalf of another corporation is a separate matter. [3] [2]
Select and retrieve the product
In the account, find the corporation, open “Order Documents” and select the product. The guide names “View Company Profile—Full Access” for record inspection. “Submit” leads to payment; completed orders appear under “My Orders”. Delivery terms describe electronic output to the browser. [2] [3]
Documents and fees
| Document / information | Contents and purpose | Fee | How to get it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Public corporation profile [6] [3] | Basic details and the tabs visible for the selected entity. | Free | Entity Search → matching result. |
| 24-hour file inspection [2] [3] | Filed records and articles information under the tariff. | USD 50 under tariff | Account → Order Documents → View Company Profile—Full Access. |
| Good Standing, short or long form [2] [3] | Short form: status and identity. Long form: additional current addresses, officeholders, shares and shareholders. | USD 15 short; USD 25 long | Order for the identified corporation through the approved client account. |
| Certificate of status [2] [3] | Separate status product in the tariff; do not universally equate it with Good Standing. | USD 15 | Select Certificate of status in the order. |
| Certified Historical Extract [2] [3] [4] | Current and previous information from re-registration. Earlier paper history separately through FIC. | USD 50 | Select the historical product; contact FIC for earlier records. |
What is visible without signing in
Search results show the company name, number, legal form, status, registration date and activities. The company profile also provides registered agent and shareholder details. Use the relevant ordering service for historical records and document copies. [6]
Fees and the older free-access announcement
The guide still contains an announcement that all information would be free in the first year after launch. The same guide publishes a tariff: USD 50 for 24-hour inspection of filed records, USD 15 for short-form good-standing or status certificates, USD 25 for long-form good standing and USD 50 for the historical extract. Start with the free public view, then check the actual displayed charge for any additional product. [2] [6]
Limits of historical coverage
According to the guide, the historical extract contains current and previous information from re-registration onwards. Contact FIC for earlier paper records. The guide states that certificates are unavailable until re-registration. “Not Yet Re-Registered” and “Administratively Dissolved” are therefore important status indicators. [2] [6]
Payment and access from abroad
The portal charges in US dollars. The instructions allow debit or credit cards or a prepaid account balance. American Express is not accepted. Cash and cheque payments go to the National Treasury; upload the receipt to your account afterwards. Free public search does not require proof of citizenship. [2] [3] [6]
Digital access, paper and overseas post
Delivery terms describe immediate electronic output to the browser and printing by the user. A self-printed result is not a promised postal service for an official paper original. For a special paper version or older file, contact registrar@palauregistries.pw or crspecialist@ropfic.org. The authority lists Surangel Building, 2nd Floor, Ernguul Road, Ikelau, Koror, and P.O. Box 10243, Koror, Palau 96940. [3] [4]
