Choose the right register
The Registro Nacional de Comercio is the commercial section of the legal-person register. It provides certified information about registered legal acts. The procedure expressly excludes sole traders (Empresas Unipersonales). First distinguish a status-information request from a copy of a specific registered document. [1]
Names and abbreviations explained
Search step by step
Check a company or obtain a registered document
Prepare the name and search period
For Vigencia provide the company name and exact incorporation year. If unknown, specify a search period ending on the required date. For requests outside the online system, the department also helps identify the records. [1] [2]
Log into DGR
Open the online application from the official procedure page and sign in with your DGR account. Under Ingreso choose Persona Jurídica, complete the request and confirm the details. [1] [5]
Identify the document for a certified reproduction
A Testimonio requires register, office, year and number, plus folio and book where applicable. [2]
Pay and download the PDF
DGR lists counters or accounts of the Asociación de Escribanos del Uruguay (AEU, Uruguay’s notaries’ association), Abitab and Redpagos as payment routes. Once processed and paid, open the PDF in the results list. The instructions confirm an advanced electronic signature. [4] [1]
Documents and fees
| Document / information | Contents and purpose | Fee | How to get it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Certificado de Vigencia [1] [2] [3] [4] | Company and relevant register entries for the requested period. | Urgent UYU 3,812. Ordinary: DGR portal UYU 1,265; procedure page 1.50 UR. Confirm the discrepancy before paying. | Request through Solicitudes Remotas using company name, incorporation year or search period. |
| Testimonio of a registered document [1] [2] [4] | Certified reproduction of a specifically identified registered document. | The procedure page allows up to three legal persons per form for one fee; confirm the ordinary total because official prices differ. | Provide register, office, year, number and folio/book where applicable. |
What the search covers
The criteria cover companies of different legal forms, consortia, economic interest groups and cooperatives. Commercial-register entries do not simply expire with age, so the relevant search period can extend far back. The computerisation overview is explicitly dated February 2014. [2]
A clear urgent fee but conflicting ordinary fees
The DGR portal labels its tariffs current and gives UYU 1,265 for ordinary procedures and UYU 3,812 for urgent ones. The specific procedure page also gives UYU 3,812 for urgency but quotes 1.50 UR (Unidades Reajustables, an adjusted accounting unit) for an ordinary request. The sources do not explain the discrepancy. Confirm the ordinary fee before payment. [3] [1]
Several companies in one request
The procedure page allows up to ten legal persons for Vigencia-only information, or three for Testimonios, on one form for one fee. Its first-extension line conflicts by calling the service free while assigning 0.50 UR. Extension fees should therefore also be confirmed. [1]
Processing, download and collection
The service page gives up to five working days for ordinary requests and same-day delivery for urgent requests. The information speaks as of its issue date and time and has no general validity period. DGR also describes collection at the specified office alongside digital download. International post is not promised. [1] [4]
Check account and payment access from abroad
The remote route requires a DGR account. National payment outlets and AEU accounts are listed. DGR publishes info@dgr.gub.uy and +598 2402 5642, extension 1730, for assistance. Confirm account activation and payment before submitting an order. [1] [3]
