Eritrea: commercial registration and business licences through BLRD

The Ministry of Trade and Industry’s Business Licensing and Registration Division is the starting point for company records. Commercial registration, a business licence and a sector-specific permit are different forms of evidence.

Choose the right register

Article 19 of Proclamation 128/2002 provides for local or provincial commercial registers and a central register at the ministry’s headquarters. Contact the responsible authority for current registry information. [1]

The institutional country guide identifies BLRD as the responsible division. According to that guide, companies and trade names are handled at the Asmara head office, while other licensing matters may be handled regionally. The guide is published by 50 Million African Women Speak, not on an Eritrean ministry domain. [2]
